Public Policy Information
It is the intention of the Public Policy committee to establish relationships with other women's groups throughout Illinois. The ultimate goal is to have Illinois State Legislators realize the voting strength of Women Business Owners. A time to be announced in April may be available for NAWBO members, in conjunction with other women's groups, to lobby their Illinois State Representatives.

We are looking forward to an exciting year with Public Policy, as you may know this is an Election Year, so we want to encourage everyone to get registered and to GO VOTE! You can go and vote absentee. In 1998, 36.4 percent of voters went to the polls to cast their ballots. That's the lowest voter turnout since 1942! Two out of three Americans, 115 million eligible voters, simply stayed home and didn't vote at all. Many people explain their failure to vote by saying: "I'm just one person. My little ole vote doesn't make a difference. There's a lot of historical evidence to the contrary. One person can make a difference. Check out these links: POWER OF ONE VOTE or Women Suffrage.
